2 days (9th Feb & 10th Feb 2015) Technical Workshop for Civil & Mechanical Department Faculty

For Civil Department, the training was about CAD/CAM software usage.

CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing) refers to computer software that is used to both design and manufacture products.

CAD is the use of computer technology for design and design documentation. CAD/CAM applications are used to both design a product and program manufacturing processes, specifically, CNC machining. CAM software uses the models and assemblies created in CAD software to generate tool paths that drive the machines that turn the designs into physical parts. CAD/CAM software is most often used for machining of prototypes and finished parts.

For Mechanical Department, the training was about NISA software.
NISA is one of the most comprehensive engineering analysis suites available to address the Automotive, Aerospace, Energy & Power, Civil, Electronics and Sporting Goods industries. NISA has been an engineer’s favorite for more than 35 years.

CITM NSS Unit & EEESA - Swine Flu Awareness & Medicine Distribution camp in Nimmalapalem Village

Under the guidance of CITM Principal Dr. V.R.K.Narasimha Raju garu , CITM NSS Coordinator Mr.K.Ravi & EEESA Coordinator Mr. Appala Ramu & Ms.Carmel Tensy Periera arranged Swine Flu Awareness & Free Medical Checkup Camp in Nimmalapalem Village on 9th Feb,Monday from 9.30am to 1.30pm.

For this camp Dr. B.V.Raju garu from Ramsai Homeo Clinic,Kothavalasa visited Nimmalapalem village to give Swine Flu Awareness and General Health Checkup. They also distributed Swine Flu medicine for Free.

MEDIATATION CAMP AT ITMCOE
 

Meditation is considered the best stress reliever. ITMCOE has been taken a steps toward it under the activity of National Service Scheme (NSS) a one day meditation camp has been organized on Saturday 23August.This program started with AnapanSati Meditation which is a Breathing meditation & is one of the few meditations that can be used for a wide range of purposes. It can be used to build mindfulness, concentration, body knowledge and insight. Further the program followed by Akriya Dhyan . The program concluded by Celebration music and Dance.

More than 50 students of all branches , Teaching and non teaching staff have been participated and enjoyed this camp. This camp is successfully organized by Prof.V.J.Deshbhratar, NSS Incharge

Report of Guest Lecture on ”Sun Energy Abundant and clean - A Need of the Hour”

As a part of Industry Institute Interaction, a guest lecture on ”Sun Energy Abundant and Clean - A Need of the Hour” was organized in ITMCOE Nagpur campus on 25th August 2014. Er. Gurmeet Singh Menor was the guest of honor. He has 19 years experience with Hindalco Industries Ltd. in the field of Operation, Equipment maintenance, Process quality control and Research and development. His area of interest is non-conventional energy sources. On his speech, he emphasized on the need of solar power system in present scenario. He also discussed the comparison between the others sources of power generation with solar power generation system and its implementation for domestic applications. He elaborated the topic with many day to day examples which are close to student’s life. His lecture was well planed and supported with power point presentation. It was really innovative, interactive and informative. The project groups from Mechanical and electrical Engineering students discussed their project at the interaction session.

All students and faculties of ITM Campus were present in this occasion. The Guest was welcome and introduced by Prof. Arvind Bodhe. Incharge of I.I.I. cell. All members of I.I.I. Cell took efforts to make this program successful.

2 weeks SIEMENS PLC/SCADA

CITM has successfully completed 2 weeks (21-07-2014 to 02-08-2014) SIEMENS PLC & SCADA training program for B.Tech Final year EEE (Electrical & Electronics Engineering) and ECE (Electronics & Communication Engineering) students from CITM.

The main purpose of this workshop is to give awareness and real-time experience on Siemens equipment and WinCC software.

SCADA stands for Supervisory Control And Data Acqusition. This course is mostly useful for B.Tech engineer EEE (Electrical & Electronics Engineering) & ECE (Electronics & Communication Engineering) who will be working in several industries where the machines needs to be automated and controlled using the data which requires knowledge of PLC/SCADA.

3 WEEKS TRAINING PROGRAM ON SOFT-SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
 

CITM has organized 3 Weeks Softskills training program from 16th June 2014 to 10th July 2014 for the 1st & 2nd Year B.Tech Students. There were more than 180 students participated in this training program.

The Expert Trainers Mr. Sam & Mr.Sunil came from Dwaith Infotech Pvt. Ltd. has organized this program on several topics which includes:

  • Telephone Etiquette
  • Net Etiquette
  • Solving the customer problems applying Troubleshooting Techniques
  • Body Language
  • Effective Communication
  • Assertive Communication
  • Leadership Skills

During this 3 weeks program they have done several activities with students to make them understand several topics. During this period Mr.Sam has taken FDP (Faculty Development Program) for 1 Week. More than 50 staff members attended this training program.

Principal Dr.V.R.K.Narasimha Raju has told that every year these types of training programs will be included in their curriculum to improvise effective communication skills for the students to get better career opportunities because these soft skills are very essential to enter in this competitive corporate world.

Annual Day Celebration in CITM on 5th April 2014

A warm welcome to all of you….

I am very happy to present the 6th Annual Report of Coastal Institute of Technology and management for the year 2013-14 before the august audience present here.

1.Introduction: Coastal Institute of Technology and Management is one of the 3 rd best engineering college in the Vizianagaram District. We are happy that Two batches of students completed the B.Tech Degree Course from CITM and came out successfully. With the Guidance and support of our Chairman, Trustees, Advisory Board and Academic Council Members, Faculty, Parents, Well Wishers, Staff and Students we could continue to maintain good reputation among new generation Colleges in the state.

2.Academic Activities: We are the first Engineering College in the Vizianagaram District registered in Centre of Excellence for e-resource development and deployment program of JNTUK for empower faculty and students.

The classwork timings have been increased to one extra period for the benefit of the students also we are conducting classes for the backward students.

3.Admissions:  Campus Strength has been increased by every academic year, now the student strength is 797.For the next academic year we are planning to reach above 1000 students in this campus.

4.Results: Examinations are conducting smoothly and the pass percentage is increased year after year. The third mechanical student Neeladri Sarkar got 90 % Marks and he is one of the topper in the JNTU Kakinada.

5. Placement & Training: The TP Department is giving regular Training to the students from beginning to the end of the course in many areas. The following are the major activities conducted during report period.
We are placed so far 35 students in this academic year and there are still few more campuses to be organized. This is our 3 rd completion batch where we have placed more than 80 % eligible candidates. We also conducted several off campus drives where we placed other college students in reputed companies like Genpact, Acroptel, Agna Business Solutions etc.,

This year CITM Become associate Partner of Co Cubes.com , Mumbai which is an online job portal to assist our final year students.

6.Other Activities :

  • Our Final Year batch students attended national Education summit in Ahmedabad and Visited several industries in Gujarat.
  • Final year students are participated in ‘Youth Convention’ conducted by Rama Krishna Mission Ashram.
  • We are conducted national Level Quiz ‘ GYANI ‘ to final year students.
  • We are encouraging the students by giving free bus facility and fee concessions. In this academic year we established new college hostel at Kothavalasa and free hostel at campus for the benefit of the students.

7.SEMINARS AND TRAINING PROGRAMME ATTENDED BY STAFF
1.     Faculty also participated in various workshops and seminars in other reputed universities like GITAM.

8.FACULTY EXCELLENCE

  • Dr A.Srinivas awarded Ph.D from New World Mission Dunamis International  University (NWMDIU), South Africa. Three staff members R.Phani Kumar, M.Sireesha, B.Suresh Kumar are got admissions into Ph.D Program in Andhra University. The faculty strength also improved especially Civil and Mechanical Departments, senior faculty members are joined and the departments became strong.

9.Office & Supporting Staff:We have 5 Office Staff and 9 supporting staff

10.Sports & Competitions:

  • Our students participated in EENADU Cricket Trophy at Vizianagaram.
  • Students are selected for state level Drawing competition and win first place in Constitutional level and District wise win second prize.
  • For the students recreation we developed a wide playground and to be developed basketball Grounds.

11.National Service Scheme:
Under the CITM NSS Unit we are participated social responsibility activities like free donation of books, water filters to school, three wheel cycles for physically challenged persons and conducting blood campus.

12.Other Important Programmes:The following programmes were conducted in the Campus during the period of report.

  • We are organized ABN Andhrajyothi Youngistan Program, for this event our vice chancellor Dr G. Tulasi Ram Das and ABN Andhrajyothi Chairman, V.Radha Krishna hosted this event.
  • We had MOU Siemens, Germany, we have organized two workshops on PLC,SCADA and Industrial Automation for other collages and also our college students. And Invested around 40 Lakhs for the Industrial Training Center Lab. We are the only engineering college having this Lab in the coastal Andhra Pradesh.
  • Our College conducted government prestigious examinations like IBPS and VRO Successfully.

13.Infra Structure Facilities:

  • Class rooms and Laboratories for new intake are being set up at the Campus.
  • Construction of Third floor is in progress.
  • Two mechanical labs are established.

14.0 Conclusion:
I thank our Chairman, Board of Trustees, Members of Advisory Board and Academic Council, Faculty members, Staff and Students for their cooperation help and Support to the development of CITM.

MoU with NTTF

Memorandum of Understanding is signed between ITM Group Institutes and Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF) for academic collaboration for joint programs leading to award of Certificates, Diplomas, Advance Diploma, PG Diploma and Associate degrees. NTTF is headquarterred in Banglore and their Diplomas and Vocational programs are respected by industry. The MoU was signed by Dr. P.V. Ramana, Chairman, ITM Group and Mr. N. Reguraj, MD, NTTF in our Corporate Office at Platinum Technopark, Vashi.

MoU was signed between ITM-Group of Institutions and Montgomery College, Maryland, USA during the India-U.S. Higher Education dialogue held on June 25, 2013 in New Delhi for capacity building with respect to Community Colleges. The MoU was signed by Dr. P. V. Ramana, Chairman, ITM Group and Dr. DeRionne Pollard, President, Montgomery College.
The dignitaries who guided the dialogue were HE US Secretary of State John Kerry, Hon. HRD minister of India Dr. M.M. Pallam Raju, Shri Ashok Thakur, Secretary, MHRD, Dr. Sam Pitroda, Advisor to PM and Chairman, National Innovation Council, Ms. Tara Sonenshine,Under Secretary US and others. CITM TechFest 2k13

Coastal Institute of Technology & Management (CITM) celebrated technical festival - TechFest 2k13 on 6th March & 7th March 2013.
On the first day after inauguration by our principal Dr.V.R.K.N.Raju and committee members Mr.Srinivas Adapa, Mr.T.Santosh and Mr.M.Venu Gopal following events took place:

  • Technical Quiz for EEE, ECE, CSE, Civil & Mechanical 
  • E - CET Mock Test for EEE, ECE, CSE, Civil & Mechanical
  • Sports - Cricket & Volleyball for boys
  • Fun Games
  • Juke Box
  • Project Expo (Project Model Display of B.Tech and Diploma Final Year Projects)

There were total 250 diploma students came from various other colleges and participated in all the events very actively.
On the second day following events took place:

  • Fun Games
  • Juke Box
  • Cricket & Volley Ball for boys
  • Badminton, Throwball & Kho-Kho for girls
  • Paper Presentations for boys & girls
  • Cultural Programs

There were several awards and rewards announced for the Winners and Runners in all the events organized.

CITM NSS Unit conducted Blood Donation Camp

CITM NSS (National Social Service) Unit has conducted a Blood Donation Camp in Coastal Institute of Technology & Management, Narapam, Kothavalasa on 2nd March 2013, supported by AS Raja Blood Bank in Visakhapatnam.
Around 50 persons donated blood which includes CITM Faculty & Students.Other than students, our beloved Principal Dr.V.R.K.Narasimha Raju and other faculty members actively participated in the Blood Donation Camp.

PLC & SCADA Workshop in Coastal Engineerin​g College, Narapam, Kothavalas​a, Vizianagar​am

CITM Proudly Organizing 3 Days workshop on Basic PLC & Scada on 25th, 26th & 27th Feb 2013. This workshop is being conducted in Industrial Training Center, CITM Campus

There were more than 100 registrations from CITM and Non-CITM (Outside Colleges) from AU Womens, MVGR, Gonna Institute of Technology & Sciences,VITS-Sontyam, BITS, Pydah, Alameer...etc

However due to limited number of slots we have allowed only 50 students for this 3 days workshop.

Looking in to the demand, In coming month we will have one more workshop which will cater the remaining students who have done the registrations.

The registration fee is Rs.300/- per head for this 3 days workshop.
Timings: 9am to 3.30pm.

PLC stands for Programmable Logic Control and SCADA stands for Supervisory Control And Data Acqusition. This course is mostly useful for EEE (Electrical & Electronics Engineering) engineer who will be working in several industries where the machines needs to be automated and controlled using the data which requires knowledge of PLC/SCADA.

MoU is signed between University of Memphis, USA and ITM Group Engineering Institutes including ITM University - Institute of Engineering & Technology, Raipur; ITM College of Engineering, Nagpur and Coastal Institute of Technology & Management, Vizag on November 2, 2012 for co-operation in variety of joint academic and education activities such as collaborative students projects, joint articulations in degree programs and course offerings, exchanges of faculty and graduate students, academic activities including joint research projects and publications, exchanges of publications, materials and information, joint conferences and workshops and special short term programs and visits. The MoU was signed by President Shirley Raines for University of Memphis and Dr. Milind Kulkarni, Director - Engineering Institutes for ITM Group Engineering Institutions. Dr. Sajjan Shiva, Prof. Dipankar Dasgupta, Prof. Stephanie Ivey and Dr. Milind Kulkarni participated in the discussions. During his visit to University of Memphis, Dr. Kulkarni gave a presentation before Civil Engineering students.

MoU is signed between Siemens and ITM Group Engineering Institutes viz. ITM College of Engineering, Nagpur, Coastal Institute of Technology & Management, Vizag and ITM University, Raipur. Under this Siemens will develop State of the Art Laboratories in these Engineering Institutes and provide training to faculty and students. Thus students getting admissions in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication Engg., Computer Science & Engg., Information Technology, Mechatronics, Instrumentation in ITM BTech programs will receive training on World Class Siemens products and receive Siemens Certification.

ITM Chairman Dr P V Ramana participates in India-USA Higher Education Summit Oct 13/14, 2011 in Washington DC, USA as a Member of the Indian Delegation

Mr.Kapil Sibal, India’s Minister for Human Resource Development laid out a five point agenda for private sector involvement at a discussion, focusing on innovative models and delivery mechanisms for U.S.-India higher education cooperation, jointly organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and USIBC on 14 October 2011 in Washington D.C.

The session also featured notable people like Mr. P Rajendran, Chairman, CII National Committee on Higher Education and Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer, NIIT Ltd; Dr. P.V. Ramana, Chairman, ITM Group, Dr. Robert Brown, President, Boston University; Mr. Avinash Vashishtha, Chairman and Managing Director, Accenture; Mr. Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Mr.Ron Somers, President, US-India Business Council.

The discussion session was organized on the sidelines of the first ever U.S.-India Higher Education Summit which took place on October 13 in Washington D.C. and drew academics, private sector participants and government officials to discuss existing and future opportunities for collaboration.
